Tram services commenced on the 31st May 2014 along a 14km stretch of line between Edinburgh Airport and the City Centre.

There are 16 tram stops along the way, including the new tram/train interchange at Edinburgh Gateway that opened in December 2016.  Trams also connect with trains at Edinburgh Park, Haymarket and Waverley Station is just a short walk from St Andrew Square stop.

The tram continues to grow more popular every year, in 2017 customer numbers increased by over 1 million to an annual figure of 6.6 million trips. Edinburgh Trams are also award winning; we came top of the Transport Focus ‘Tram Passenger Survey’ scoring a record 99% customer satisfaction rating and we picked up the converted ‘Operator of the Year’ award at the Global Light Rail Awards.

Tram services operate from every 7 minutes, 7 days a week between 5.30am and midnight. Up to 18 trams are used to run the service at any one time. In total there are 27 CAF trams that are 42.8 metres long in 7 sections. All trams are 100% low-floor with 78 seats and 2 wheelchair bays.
